How do you follow what Holy Spirit is leading you to do when you don't have either the time or the money to do it? That is the question which was on my heart even when I was a teenager, after realising that most people seemed to live lives of survival - stuck in a rut of no time, no money and limited purpose. I realised at that point that if I did what everyone else was doing, I'd get what they had gotten. Survival and not much more.

Yet from the time I was a little girl, I had dreamed big dreams and just knew in my heart that I wanted to follow what God wanted me to do. I wanted to make the world a better place and I felt like if this was in my heart, then there had to be a way for that to happen. So I was looking for the how.

I imagine that as you are reading this, many of you are also looking for the HOW to do what is in your heart to do. You've got dreams of doing things to expand God's Kingdom, but you just can't see how to get the time and money to walk them out.

It didn't take me long to figure out that if I was going to earn an income which wasn't capped, and if I was going to be free to follow Holy Spirit, this 'trading time for money' thing called employment, was not going to be my ultimate answer.

I knew the answer had to be in business, so I learned as much as I could about how to create a flexible lifestyle business which would provide for my family and give me the freedom to fulfil my purpose. I also started to realise how God wanted to use business to minister to people and transform communities. I could see how powerful business was and I was bursting to build what I could see in my heart.​

Then life happened, as it does. Instead of building businesses, I found myself raising my beautiful children much earlier than I had expected to be. Financial pressures caused my husband and I to get sucked into survival mode, despite my determination to avoid it, though I always made sure that the work I did was flexible and I determined when I did it. This gave me some time freedom, but I still had to trade my time for money, and there wasn't enough money - or time - to do what was in my heart to do.

At one point, when my children were still little, I started a business one day per week while my parents looked after them for me. I was actually doing quite well in my business, but soon found that my life had become consumed by it. I wasn't spending the time that I wanted to with my little children, because I was trying to grow this business every chance I got. And even when I wasn't working on it, I was thinking about it, how I could make it grow and how I could actually build the vision I was carrying.

I could see something really amazing which had the potential to set my family free financially, and accomplish things for the Kingdom of God, but instead, the way I approached it put pressure on my family and it made me utterly miserable!

So God told me to put it aside and enjoy the rest of the time that I had with my children at home before they all started their school years. He had begun to train me, and during the years to come, He used everything that was in my life to teach and refine me. He wanted to show me how to avoid ever going to that place again, and to show me what it would look like to build an actual Kingdom business when it was time to start over again.

It was quite a number of years later when I began to hear Holy Spirit whispering to my heart again that business was the answer. I knew it was true, but my this time my heart had been a bit crushed by life and I felt as though I had already failed before. I was afraid of going back to my past defaults and putting pressure on my family. I also was only really finding out who God said I was, and I wasn't yet confident in what - and Who - was inside of me.

I actually dragged my feet for three years before starting my business, because I struggled to believe that I had anything of value and worth to offer other people. I knew that God had placed a treasure chest of glory inside of every single one of His children, yet I found it very difficult to identify my own and know how to turn it into a business. I didn't even know what He wanted me to do - what business I would build!?!?

Have you ever felt like that before... like you know that there's a business inside of you, but you don't even know what it is, or what value you could possibly bring to others? 

Or perhaps you already have a business, but you feel like I did in my first business attempt - that I'd lost my treasure in the exhaustion of just trying to grow it?

I know what it is to have no idea what you're going to do in business, or how on earth to start it once you do know. I've struggled with being so overwhelmed by the process, I didn't even know where to begin. I've felt lonely in the journey and wondered if anyone else out there understood what I was seeing, how much I was pouring into my vision, and why it was so important to me to build a transformational Kingdom business. I've been ridiculed by loved ones, when all I craved was someone to believe in me... because I was also struggling to believe in myself. 

Yet in this business journey, I've also discovered that God believes in me, as He does you. I've walked with Holy Spirit as He's taught me how to receive blueprints and strategies from heaven, to know and value the worth of my work, to recognise the unique treasure that He has placed within me and to know how to bring it into financial increase in my life.

He's taught me to build something with Him that is so purposeful, it causes me to get out of bed each morning looking forward to doing it!

The journey of business is one of the most exciting and challenging journeys we can take. It is also one of the journeys which can bring us into the greatest intimacy and adventure with God.

I actually believe that we do not carry the wisdom to lead or minister to people, if we do not carry the wisdom to build a profitable business. The growth and intimacy with Christ that it calls for cannot be replicated or purchased anywhere else. It's the day by day seeking His heart and applying His answers, and the advancing through all quit points that brings the maturity, wisdom and discernment that the world needs. 

Business has been designed by God to be a blessing, not a curse. It is intended to enable you to pull treasure out of your treasure chest and co-create with God on this earth... to create something purposeful which brings value to people's lives, solves problems they desperately need solving, takes care of the needs of your family and generates abundant wealth that can be channeled for the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

Your business is part of His plan to display the face of Papa God to the world. What an opportunity to show people who He really is and how much He loves them!

Business is never intended to consume our lives and when we build God's way, it instead brings freedom to our lives, and returns a harvest of blessing to us and to those around us.

This is a strategic time in the Kingdom of God and the world. There is financial pressure and economic warfare coming at people from all sides. Yet God wants us to come in the opposite spirit and wield business as a weapon. He has declared that this is the year of enterprise and so He is looking for His children who will forge forward into His plans with bold, audacious faith and trust in their Father to lead, protect and prosper them.
